Kerry FC are delighted to welcome Matthew Britton and Eric Koufie to our first team squad, with the youngsters signing on loan from SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier Division and 2025 FAI Cup Champions Shamrock Rovers until June.
Matthew Britton is 18 and is the son of former League of Ireland winner Matt Britton. The centre-forward has impressed for Shamrock Rovers Academy and has played senior football with the Tallaght Club in the Leinster Senior Cup. He has appeared on the bench on several occasions, including in some group games of the UEFA Conference League. Britton spent the second half of the 2025 campaign on loan with Bray Wanderers, where he had an assist against Kerry on the final day of the season.
Eric Koufie turned 19 on New Year’s Day and applies his trade in both central midfield and across the forward line. He has played Senior football for Rovers over the last 3 seasons, with all 5 appearances coming in the Leinster Senior Cup. This is Eric’s first loan move away from his home club, and he will be looking to impress under Colin Healy in the Kingdom.
Matthew will wear the number 26 shirt while Eric will don the number 15 during his time in Mounthawk Park.
Matthew Britton told kerryfc.com, “I’m delighted with the move down here to Kerry. I’m really excited about the challenge, working under a great manager like Colin Healy, and I want to get some first-team minutes here in Kerry in the First Division.”
Eric Koufie said, “Very happy to land here in Kerry, a new challenge for me that I’m ready for. Just buzzing to get going, really. It was great to meet all the lads here, and the facility is great. So ya, all about making a good impact here in Kerry for the fans here, playing alongside some great players. Can’t wait to get started.”
Also speaking after the two men landed in Mounthawk Park, Colin Healy said, “We are delighted to welcome Matt and Eric to the club. Thanks to Stephen and all in Shamrock Rovers, we have a great relationship with them up there. The two boys are really hungry to get first-team minutes and have plenty to prove. Although young, they are both ready to show they have what it takes, and they give us great options in different areas of the pitch. We are looking forward to working with them both, and hopefully they make a real impact during their time here in Kerry.”
