Chris McQueen makes the switch from Scotland to the Kingdom

Kerry Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of former Scottish international Christopher McQueen, subject to International clearance.

McQueen, who is 22, hails from Glasgow and the centre-back has crossed the Irish Sea and signed for Kerry Football Club ahead of the 2025 SSE Airtricity Men’s First Division.

The former Celtic youth player primarily plays in both centre-back positions and has a wealth of experience in the game from his home country. After he departed Celtic in 2021, McQueen went on to play in the Scottish league system with Stenhousemuir, East Kilbride, and most recently with Stranraer in the Scottish League 2. He also spent a short time with Weymouth FC in the Vanarama National League.

Speaking to kerryfc.com following his signing with the Kingdom, Chris said, “I’m happy to be here. After hearing about the club’s plans and ambitions, I knew it was something I wanted to be a part of and help bring success to. I’m looking forward to a busy pre-season and meeting the fans in Mounthawk Park”

Also speaking to kerryfc.com, First Team Head Coach Conor McCarthy said, “We are thrilled that Chris has signed for Kerry FC for 2025. He will bring fantastic experience to the heart of our defence in the new season. He brings that experience from his youth days with Celtic and playing senior football with the ‘B’s’ there, and obviously, playing league football in Scotland which is of a high level as well. As with all the players we have in training at the moment, he has already shown what he is capable of and I’m excited to be working with him in 2025.”
