Former Academy Trio re-sign for Kerry FC ahead of the 2025 season

Kerry FC is delighted to announce the re-signing of defenders Finn Barrett & Samuel Aladesanusi as well as Goalkeeper Darragh Foley ahead of the 2025 season.

Finn Barrett stepped up to senior football in 2024, playing 16 games in the second half of the campaign. The 18-year-old right-back impressed during his spell in the Starting XI, and 2025 is set to be another big year for the young defender.

Samuel Aladesanusi made his first team debut in the club’s inaugural season in 2023. The 20-year-old has impressed in the first team, playing 57 games across the last 2 seasons and has two goals to his name. The Tralee-based centre-back missed some of the last games in 2024 due to injury but is sure to be a pivotal player once again for the Kingdom in 2025.

Killorglin goalkeeper Darragh Foley has also re-signed for Kerry FC ahead of the new season. The 18-year-old Academy goalkeeper trained and travelled with the Senior squad in 2024. Despite not making his debut in 2024, the young keeper was in the matchday squad for 19 games in 2024. Foley has impressed in pre-season training and has earned his place in the 2025 Kerry FC squad.

The 3 Kerry youngsters spoke to kerryfc.com after their re-signings for the club.

Finn Barrett said:

“I’m delighted to be re-signing for Kerry FC ahead of the 2025 season. After making the step up to first-team football last season I can’t wait for pre-season to get underway and push on again. I’m looking forward to playing in front of the fans at Mounthawk Park and giving my all for the club this upcoming season”

Samuel Aladesanusi said:
“I’m happy to sign back with Kerry for 2025. I can’t wait to get back on the pitch for pre-season and in front of the fans in Mounthawk Park

Darragh Foley said:

“It’s an honour to resign for this season. I’m delighted to be working again with Conor, the coaches and my teammates. It’s a big season ahead and I can’t wait to be back in front of a rocking Mounthawk Park!”

Also speaking to kerryfc.com following the three re-signings, First Team Head Coach Conor McCarthy said “It’s great to have 3 more of our Academy graduates in the squad for the 2025 season. Finn really impressed in his first year in the team last season. He settled in straight away during the summer and was one of our best players towards the end of the campaign. He will be a very important player for us once again in 2025. Sam is another key player for us in the centre-back position. We’ve seen some of his best qualities over the last 2 years and at 20 he has played almost 60 games. That injury that kept him out towards the end of the campaign has all cleared up and is training well in pre-season. And Darragh is a fantastic prospect in the club as well. Although yet to make his debut, Darragh gained massive experience with the first team last year. He trained with us all year and was part of the matchday squad throughout the season. He impressed in games for the Under 20’s throughout the year as well and I’m sure we will see more improvements from him in 2025.”
