Kennedy Amechi re-signs for Kerry FC ahead of 2024 campaign

Kerry Football Club are delighted to confirm that forward Kennedy Amechi has re-signed for the club in a deal which will keep him in Mounthawk Park until 2025.

Amechi, who turned 19 in October, played his first year at senior League of Ireland level with Kerry FC last season. He instantly became a fan favourite to the Mounthawk Park faithful during the 2023 campaign, scoring 3 goals in 19 league appearances for the newcomers.

The Mallow man played his football locally with Mallow United before joining the Limerick FC Academy in 2020. He then moved on to the Cork City Academy a year later before signing for the Kingdom last January. Amechi picked up a number of awards in 2023, including a Goal of the Month award for his strike against Wexford FC in August. The same goal won the Kerry FC Goal of the Season at the end of year awards night.

Speaking to kerryfc.com following his re-signing, Amechi said “It’s great to be back signed with Kerry for the new season. It’s a big season for myself and also for the team. I can’t wait for the season to get started next month. I’m really looking forward to seeing and playing in front of a packed Mounthawk park again. It’s going to be a special year, I can feel it. Just really happy to be signed up and ready to get back out on the pitch.”

Also speaking to kerryfc.com following his re-signing, First Team Head Coach Conor McCarthy said “We are delighted to have Kennedy Amechi re-signed for the new season. Kennedy had an excellent first season with us and we’re delighted to have him back in for the season ahead, everybody can see his quality and we’re looking forward to seeing him back on pitch very soon.”
