Kerry Football Club is proud to be teaming up with John Ross Jewellers, Tralee, who become the first-ever sponsor of our Women’s Under 17 side.
In its second season, our Women’s Under 17 team has grown from strength to strength since its inaugural season in 2024. The girls did the club proud finishing 2nd in the group stages in the league, just behind Peamount United who focus solely on women’s football.
In today’s landmark announcement, John Ross Jewellers’ name is proudly positioned on the front of the Home, Away and goalkeeper’s jerseys for the club’s WU17 side. Both Kerry Football Club and John Ross Jewellers are united in their desire to promote women’s football in the Kingdom.
Since the introduction of Women’s EA Sports League of Ireland football in Kerry, the club has noticed a huge upturn in support for the ladies’ game in the Kingdom. They are one of the highest-attended Academy fixtures in Mounthawk Park and the influx of girls under the age of 18 attending Senior Men’s matches has continued to rise over the last 12 months.
John Ross Jewellers is based on Castle Street in the heart of Tralee and has been in business in the county since 1899. Kerry’s finest jewellers, John Ross Jewellers provide all your jewellery needs from rings to watches and plenty more in between. Visit www.johnrossjewellers.com
Speaking on the landmark deal, Co-Owner of John Ross Jewellers, Heather O’Sullivan, said: “As one of Co. Kerry’s longest-established businesses, John Ross Jewellers recognises the importance of community, and sport is one of the best ways of encouraging and brokering long-standing connections that are so vital to our collective lives in towns and villages throughout our county. We are delighted to be partnering with the Women’s Under 17 Kerry FC team. The club does inordinate work encouraging young women to participate in sport, which is such a practical way of giving them confidence, engendering responsibility in them and fostering a spirit of togetherness, while helping to forge long-standing friendships. Young people are under such pressure these days, and sport is a wonderful outlet for them, both for their physical and mental health. We have watched how Kerry FC has grown in recent times, and this is down to the sheer passion, hard work and determination of the people behind the scenes who are providing the professional and supportive platform to bring elite women’s soccer to Kerry, and on which the Women’s Under 17 team can thrive. John Ross Jewellers is proud to be associated with such excellence”.
Also speaking after John Ross Jewellers confirmed their sponsorship, Kerry FC General Manager Sean O’Keeffe said “We are delighted to welcome John Ross Jewellers on board as our Women’s Under 17 main sponsor for the season. It gives me great pride to see the work being done in the Academy every week and the addition of the women’s side in 2024 has been nothing short of a fantastic success. The girls wear their hearts on their sleeves and have shown the true values of Kerry FC since their arrival into Mounthawk Park. It is fantastic to see such a long-established business like John Ross Jewellers come on board as the team’s main sponsor. I’d like to thank Heather and the team at John Ross Jewellers for showing their commitment to further developing Women’s sport in Kerry and I’ve no doubt it is a partnership that will result in a successful outcome both on and off the pitch.”
