After a run of 3 straight Friday nights under the Mounthawk Park lights, the Kingdom embark on a run of 3 straight weekends on the road, with this weekend’s trip to Bishopsgate coming up on Saturday evening.
It’s been a hectic couple of weeks for Kerry FC, playing 4 games in 13 days compared to the regular 1 in seven. Colin Healy may be glad of the extra 24-hour break ahead of a long spin up to the Midlands tomorrow.
While results have been a mixed bag, it’s safe to say the Kingdom’s performances have been on the upward trajectory, with the first half away to Cork and the second half at home to Treaty highlighting the side’s ability to get results, but it will all have to gel in for the full 90 minutes to show on the league table
Kerry FC have stemmed the tide of 3 straight defeats with back-to-back draws at home to UCD and Treaty United. Meanwhile, the hosts are unbeaten in 2 since their midlands derby defeat to Athlone Town and had an impressive victory over Bray Wanderers in their last fixture in Bishopsgate.
A win for the Kingdom would draw Colin Healy’s side level on points with Longford Town on 11 points come 9:30 on Saturday evening, while Longford will be looking to close the gap on the play-off places, which are still within touching distance for both sides.
Head-to-head
Kerry FC Wins – 4 Draws – 3 Longford Wins – 6
Did You Know?
Despite the distance between the sides, two players have donned the Kerry and Longford colours. Harry Halwax made the switch from the Midlanders to the Kingdom during the winter, while former Kerry FC captain Andy Spain made the move to Longford following a successful spell in the Kingdom in 2024.
Injury Update
Colin Healy still has a number of injury concerns to deal with ahead of the trip to Bishopsgate. Matt Connor has returned to training, but Saturday might come too soon for the Waterford man. Harry Halwax, Daniel Okwute and Kieran Cooney remain sidelined with knocks.
‘What they said’
Colin Healy – “Bishopsgate is always a really tough place to go, and at the moment they are doing really well. It’s simple, it’s about ourselves. We get ourselves ready and focused this week, and we go up there without any sort of excuses. Hopefully, we go there, put on a good performance, and come down the road with all 3 points.”
