Killarney native Ryan Kelliher has been named on the PFA Ireland SSE Airtricity First Division Team of the Year for 2024.
The Kerry FC attacker has had a phenomenal second season in the League of Ireland. He scored 17 goals in all competitions for the leagues newcomers in the 2024 season, just missing out on the leagues Golden Boot award in the final few games.
Kelliher, who is 23 years of age, played his underage football with Killarney Celtic before making the move to Kerry FC for the clubs inaugural season back in January of last year. Since then he has become a fan favourite in Mounthawk Park. He’s played a total of 72 matches for the Kingdom’s sole League of Ireland side, which in itself is a phenomenal achievement over 2 seasons.
Kelliher becomes the first ever Kerry FC man to make the official player voted Team of the Year in the clubs history. Cork City’s runaway league win sees the Leesider’s have 6 players on the side. The students of UCD have 2 players each, Wexford FC are represented by Aaron Dobb’s while the man who beat Ryan to the League’s Golden Boot award Dean Ebbe rounds out the 11 named.
