Kerry FC is delighted to announce that goalkeeper Matt Connor has penned a new contract with the Kingdom that will keep the Tramore man in Mounthawk Park ahead of the new season.
Connor arrived in the Kingdom in the summer window and made an instant impact between the sticks. Landing in Kerry from Athlone Town, Matt became a fan favourite very quickly in Mounthawk, keeping a clean sheet in a 4-0 win over his former side on his debut. Matt went on to make 7 appearances for the Kingdom before injury ruled him out of the final 5 games of the 2025 campaign.
While just being 28 years of age, Matt could be described as a League of Ireland veteran as he has made some 155 appearances across the league from his native Waterford FC to Galway United in both the Premier and First Divisions.
Speaking after he penned a new deal this week, Matthew Connor said, “Delighted to be signed up for 26. Hopefully, we can bring the momentum built this season into next year and continue to push to get this club to another level. I haven’t enjoyed my football as much in so long, and already can’t wait to get going again. The fans were right behind us, home and away, until the very end last season, and hopefully we can give them another season to remember next year.”
Also speaking after he secured Matt’s services heading into 2026, First Team Manager Colin Healy said, “I’m delighted to have Matt here again heading into the new season. He’s a top professional both on and off the pitch since landing here last July, and was really impressive in the games we’ve seen him in. Unfortunately, his season was curtailed by injury, but I’ve no doubt he will be fit and ready for the new season and back at his very best, which we saw this year. He has been a great addition to our group, and I’m looking forward to seeing him back on the pitch in 2026.”
