Kerry FC sign former Ipswich and Galway United Centre Back Daniel O’Connor

Kerry Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of young centre-back Daniel O’Connor to further bolster the Kingdom’s defence ahead of a crucial run-in to the club’s season.

Daniel, who is a towering centre-back, signs for Kerry FC after a successful spell with the Ipswich Under-21 set-up. Dan started his footballing career with Mervue United before signing for League of Ireland side Galway United at Academy level. O’Connor made the switch cross-channel to Ipswich Town, where he lined out for the club’s Under 21 side last season. In January, Dan went out on loan to Vanarama National League side Farnborough FC, where the 20-year-old made seven appearances at the end of last season.

Daniel turns 21 next week, and he will wear the number 19 shirt for the remainder of the 2025 campaign.

Speaking to kerryfc.com following his signing, Daniel O’Connor said, “I am delighted to have signed for Kerry FC. After speaking to Colin, I know what his plans and ambitions are going forward. I’m looking forward to getting going in Kerry, the lads are at a crucial point now in the season, and I hope I can help the team along the way. I’m looking forward to meeting all the supporters in Mounthawk Park!”

Also speaking following his signing for Kerry FC, Kerry FC Manager Colin Healy said, “I’m delighted that Daniel is here in Kerry and I’m looking forward to seeing him out on the pitch. He has been in training with us and has shown his qualities already. He comes with great experience in England, and we will be looking at him to translate that to his game here in the League of Ireland as well.”
