Matchday 10 Preview – Kerry FC v UCD AFC

With the Easter Bank Holiday Weekend now in the rear view mirror, attention turns to the second quarter of the season tomorrow night as Kerry FC welcome the students of UCD to Mounthawk Park on match night 10 of the SSE Airtricity Men’s First Division season.

With 6 points from the opening 9 games of the campaign, the Kingdom sit 9th on the table. Not up to some expectations ahead of the season start, but with the team gelling week on week, expectations are high heading into the next 9 games.

Kerry come into this one on the back of a 3-game losing streak, so they will be looking to kick-start quarter two with a much-needed victory in Tralee tomorrow evening.

But, like every game in this division, this will be another tough contest for Colin Healy’s charges. UCD come into the game on an unbeaten run of 3 games, including two wins at home to Cobh and a 0-2 away win against Athlone Town, which saw them leapfrog the Midlanders into 3rd place on the table.

In the previous meeting this season, UCD came from a goal down to beat the Kingdom 2-1 in the Bowl on the opening night of the 2026 campaign.

Head-to-head

Despite beating UCD last season, the students have a tremendous record against Kerry in Mounthawk Park, winning on all 4 occasions they’ve made the trip down the M7. A stat Kerry will want to start clawing back at tomorrow evening.

Injury Update
Colin Healy has a couple of injury concerns ahead of the game tomorrow evening. Kieran Cooney limped off in the defeat to Cork in Turners Cross, so he will be assessed this week. Finn Barrett has also missed the last two games, so he will have to be assessed, while Matt Connor has also picked up a knock in training, allowing Harvey Mangan to get his first two spots on the Matchday 20 over the last two weeks. Niall Brookwell and Vince Borden will miss this one on suspensions.
