Kerry FC V Treaty Utd

Matchday 14 – Kerry FC v Treaty United

The Kingdom return to Mounthawk Park tomorrow evening for the first Friday night game in 3 weeks with the visit of Munster neighbours Treaty United.

Well, the Kerry faithful have plenty to be happy about as they make the journey to what looks to be a sunny Mounthawk tomorrow evening. Buoyed by last Friday night’s 1-0 in Belfield against UCD AFC, Kerry will be coming into this one looking to make it back-to-back wins for the first time this season. The performance between the sticks by Tim-Oliver Hiemer has earned him a place in this week’s Team of the Week, and the German shot stopper was worth his weight in gold with not one but two penalty saves in the Bowl last week.

That result, coupled with the arrival of Colin Healy as the new First Team Manager in Mounthawk Park, means the Kerry faithful are riding on the crest of a wave as we reach the first week of the summer. But Kerry FC will have to be fully focused ahead of the visit of Treaty. Often, the arrival of a new face on a management team can have positive effects, and the Mounthawk faithful will be hoping for a so-called ‘new manager bounce’ to reap its reward tomorrow night.

Meanwhile, Tommy Barrett’s Treaty side come into the game off the back of 2 straight victories, with an impressive win on the road in Donegal against Finn Harps before a home win over Athlone Town last Friday night. Those wins have boosted the Limerick men into 4th on the table, a position they will hope to consolidate by 10 pm tomorrow.

A victory tomorrow evening will be Kerry’s first back-to-back victories and the first ever by a new manager in his first game in charge of the Kingdom.

Injury Update
Kerry FC are waiting on the fitness of Ryan Kelliher and Samuel Aladesanusi, who both limped off against UCD last weekend. Luke Palmer received his 5th yellow card of the season and is suspended for tomorrow night’s game. Nathan Gleeson made his return to the Matchday 20 last Friday and is in contention again to make his return this week.

What they said?
Colin Healy – “We have some great young coaches here, and I’m really happy with what we have here in Kerry. I will learn from them and they will learn from me. They are very organised with a lot of young players, hence why the results are up and down a little bit, but you get that with young players. I hope I can come in and give them a bit of guidance after my time in Cork and what I’ve learned over the years. We need to build on last week’s win in UCD. Can we go in and beat Treaty now and try to keep going that way instead of going up and down? It will take time, there is no doubt about that. I’m looking forward to getting going in front of a big crowd and hopefully leaving Mounthawk Park with all 3 points.”
