After an impressive opening day win against Finn Harps in Mounthawk Park, the Kingdom make the short journey up the N22 to Cobh Ramblers on Friday night in search of a further 3 points on match night 2 of the 2025 SSE Airtricity Men’s First Division campaign.
Debut goals from Joe Adams and Niall Brookwell have sent the Kingdom into overdrive, and excitement for the first away trip of the season is palpable in Tralee. An offering of a free supporters bus was snapped up by the Kerry faithful, and a full coach is to make its way up the road to St. Colman’s Park with the First Team.
Both Kerry and Cobh sit top of the table after the opening round of matches, with the Rams fighting back from 2-0 down to win 2-3 in the Markets Field against Treaty United. An impressive fight back by the Rams, who have a title favourites tag over their head in 2025. With a number of new additions from the Cork City First Division side of 2024, expectation is high in Cobh for a return to the Premier Division in 2025.
But Kerry must turn their home form into away performances in 2025. No win on the road in the league in 2024 was a topic of discussion this week. Kerry’s sole win on the road in 2024 came in the shape of a Sports Direct Men’s FAI Cup victory against Cobh last summer and Kerry will be looking for another win in St. Colman’s Park to kick-start the clubs away form in 2025.

Did You Know?
Cobh and Kerry have already met in competitive action in 2025. That came in the shape of the Munster Senior Cup clash last month in Mounthawk Park. Ramblers ran out 4-3 winners after Extra Time in an absorbing contest, which whetted the appetite for this one.
Injury Update
After receiving a red card in the opening game, goal scorer Joe Adams will be sitting this one out with a one-game suspension. Samuel Aladesanusi and Luke Palmer remain unavailable for this one as they continue their journeys back to full health. Abel Alabi and Nathan Gleeson picked up knocks against Finn Harps and are being assessed ahead of this one.
What they said?
Conor McCarthy – “Exciting, big games, but that’s what we want to play in. Cobh have recruited really well, a lot of new faces with a lot of experience. So, ya, they are strong; it’s safe to say that. They are one of the favourites to win the league, understandably so, but that’s why we are here to make it as difficult for them as possible, and it’s a challenge we are all looking forward to 100%.”
