Well, they call it summer football for a reason, and we’ve been treated to 3 games in just 7 days to return from the summer recess with a bang! With temperatures beginning to warm up, the Kingdom head to the sunny south east to take on Wexford FC tomorrow night in Ferrycarrig Park.
It was to be a disappointment for the Kingdom on their travels on Monday night, losing out to an impressive Cobh Ramblers side by the narrowest of margins. The win sees the Cork side move to within one of league leaders Dundalk. While the defeat knocked the Kingdom back a couple of points in the race to the play-offs, a win for Kerry tomorrow night will mean they will leapfrog Wexford into 6th place on the table and just outside the play-off places.
It’s been a mixed bag of results for Wexford in recent weeks, and the south eastern side have just one win in their last 9, that coming on the road to Bray over a month ago. But they will be buoyed by recent draws away to Treaty United and Finn Harps, while they ran Dundalk very close in Ferrycarrig Park before the interval. With 6th place on the line tomorrow night, it is sure to be a mighty battle between the two county FC sides.

Did You Know?
Kerry’s victory in this fixture earlier this season was the club’s sole victory over Wexford in over 2 seasons of trying. It was also Kerry’s first-ever win on a grass surface. Colin Healy’s first game on the sideline was against Wexford in Mounthawk Park, which ended in a draw that night in May.
Injury Update
It’s been a busy week in Mounthawk Park with 3 games in 7 days for Colin Healy’s charges. The management is boosted by the return of Carl Mujaguzi and Joe Adams to the Matchday 20 on Monday evening in Cobh. Ryan Kelliher remains a long-term absentee.
What they said?
Colin Healy – “We only played them a couple of weeks ago, and we performed really well against them; we should have won that game. As you say, it’s a tough place to go. Obviously, Stephen is a really good manager as well. But, as always, we focus on ourselves, we recover properly this midweek and prepare properly for a good result. We will go up there, put on a performance like we have done over the last few weeks and hopefully we can get the 3 points.”
