It’s a welcome return to home comforts this coming Friday night for the Kingdom with the visit of Finn Harps to Mounthawk Park, with kick-off scheduled for 7:45pm
Kerry are unbeaten in 3 games, 2 of which were on the road over the last fortnight. But Colin Healy’s side are yet to register their first win of the campaign. His side will be hungry to get the first win of the league season in front of their home support tomorrow night, but as is the case in every game in this league, they will be made to work for the full 90 minutes if a home win is to be secured.
The visitors, meanwhile, come into the game on a similar run of form, with 3 draws in as many matches in the run-in to tomorrow’s all-Harp clash. Like Kerry, Finn Harps have proven they can get results on the road, securing a 1-1 draw away to Cobh Ramblers before back-to-back ties at home against Wexford and Treaty respectively.
The sides are on the opposite sides of the country, but the long drive has rarely phased the opposition, with no more than a two-goal cushion in any side’s victory in this one.
Head-to-head
Kerry FC Wins – 2 Draws – 5 Finn Harps Wins – 5
Did You Know?
Both sides come into this one on a strange run of unbeaten form. Both sides have seen draws in their last 3 encounters, so both will be looking to get all 3 points as opposed to a share of the spoils.
Injury Update
Colin Healy has reported no fresh injury concerns ahead of the trip to Wexford, with the majority of the squad fit and ready for action. Ryan Kelliher and Cian Bargary are closer to a return, with both players being assessed ahead of a potential return on Friday night. Colin himself will serve the second of a 3 game suspension on Friday night.
‘What they said’
Colin Healy – “The players are really looking forward to. It will be another tough game, like every game in this division is. But our players are in a great place, and training has been going really well. Hopefully, there will be a lot of supporters in here (Mounthawk) to cheer on the team. It’s the opening of the new pitch, so it’s an important night for the club, so we want to put on a good performance for everyone and get the three points.”
Cian Murphy on scoring his first Kerry FC goal – “Ya, hopefully I can add to it now again, it was really special for me. The team is starting to gel more now, so we are going to create more chances as we have in the last few games. Hopefully we can get over the line now on Friday and enjoy a first win of the league season.”
